From There We Came Out and Saw the Star

SAHA provides production support for Hera Büyüktaşçıyan who is invited to produce a site-specific work in dialogue with the remains of the Roman arch in Borgo Vergini-Sanita, for the second edition of the project Underneath the Arches, held in Naples from December 1, 2018 to March 10, 2019.

From There We Came Out and Saw the Star examines the visible and invisible layers of Napoli, which is an aquatic city, not only by its water architecture and groundwater but also by its fluid structure that engages multiple timetables with each other. It creates a new organism by bringing together the lost and found and traces the tiles in the various living and public spaces around the Sanità region, which are surrounded by ancient ruins and aqueducts.

With this site-specific intervention, Büyüktaşçıyan creates a sense of a forgotten source that has flooded the space and creates a sharp division between its surface and its underneath. At this point, From There We Came Out and Saw the Stars invites the audience to both watch a re-emerged virtual water path from above and encourages them to stroll underneath it by creating a sense of a virtual sky beneath them.
