Mahalla Festival

Generating New Narratives

SAHA supported production of Mathilde Melek An,  Antonio Cosentino, Eda Gecikmez, Murat Germen, Raziye Kubat, Erkan Özgen, Cengiz Tekin and Güneş Terkol, who are invited to participate at the exhibiton, held at the National Community Art Museum Muza and Museum Fortress Builders between 17 and 25 November 2018 as part of Mahalla Festival. With the participation of 52 artists and writers from 20 countries, Mahalla Festival, consisting of film, literature, contemporary art, roundtable discussions, and various events, viewers to explore new communities. The festival under the title ‘Generating New Narratives’ includes various regions of Malta, Valletta, Lucija and Zabbar. Maltese and international participants discuss issues; such as language and migration, societies and diversity, new city cultures, mobile citizenship, and future demands of societies; through exhibition, concert, performance, screenings, and speeches.

About Mahalla Festival

Organized by Diyalog Association and curated by Sabine Küper-Büsch and Thomas Büsch, Mahalla Festival is an event focused on the refugee crisis. Supported by the German Embassy, the Bundeskanzlermat Österreich, Açık Toplum Foundation and the Swiss Consulate General of Istanbul, the event aims to bring together professionals from different disciplines each year to create a platform to reach the results that will guide the work of cultural mediators and refugee crisis initiatives.
