Naz Balkaya

SAHA provided support for the production of the new work by Panicattack Duo (Naz Balkaya and Emilia Demetriou), who is invited to exhibit at Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2018 exhibition held between 14 July 2018 — 31 January 2019.  As part of the 2018 edition of Bloomberg New Contemporaries exhibition, which takes place in the city of Liverpool, Panicattack Duo will realize a series of conversations through literal and performative activity upon a double size mattress, known as their ‘mobile studio’. Titled “Nothing Really Mattress”, as part of this performance piece, the duo will initiate discussions around the topics of migration and home; class and minorities; xenofeminisms; the critique of new conservatism and the ‘perks’ of being a millennial against the neoliberal patriarchy. Furthermore, the performance will involve non-violent performative activity as writing, painting, making sound, balancing the body, reading out loud, posing with or without objects, taking photographs, as a reference to the quotidian.
