Rijksakademie | Özgür Atlagan

Özgür Atlagan was selected for the residency program of Rijksakademie in 2019. The artist had the opportunity to sustain and develop his practice in Amsterdam for two full years. Atlagan was also featured in RijksakademieOPEN, which hosted 30 resident artists opening their studios to the general public November 22–24, 2019.

The residency program of Rijksakademie, an established art institution founded in 1870, hosts more than 50 artists every year. Rijksakademie collaborates with various institutions in order to provide artists from all around the world the opportunity to work in Amsterdam. Aykan Safoğlu and Belit Sağ in 2014–2015; and Kubilay Mert Ural in 2017–2018 completed the two-year program through SAHA’s partnership with the Rijksakademie.

About Özgür Atlagan

Özgür Atlagan (1984, İzmir) got his BA degree from Communication and Design Department of Bilkent University and his MA degree from Visual Arts Program of Sabancı University. He is a PhD candidate at the Industrial Product Design Department of ITU. Working with performance, text, photography and video, the artist searches for a ground between installation and theater, while walking the line of poetry. He is a member of artist collectives KABA HAT and BAÇOY KOOP (Printing Duplication Distribution Cooperative). He is currently a resident at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam.
