SAHA Art Initiatives Sustainability Fund

As part of Art Initiatives Sustainability Fund 2019-2020, SAHA supports 8 independent art initiatives from 5 different cities,

Initiatives supported by SAHA for their programming until the end of 2020 are:
A4 Open Art Space (Diyarbakır) AVTO (Istanbul) Eldem Art Space (Eskişehir) Karantina (Izmir) Loading (Diyarbakır) Performistanbul (Istanbul) sub (Çanakkale) Orta Format (digital) SAHA Art Initiatives Sustainability Fund: The funding was launched in 2014 by the SAHA Association to support the development of not-for-profit art initiatives in Turkey. The SAHA Art Initiatives Sustainability Fund was given to 5533, Pasaj and Torun in 2014-2015; Apartment Project, BAS, m-est, Torun and Videoist in 2015-2016; Corridor Project Space, MARS, Orta Format, Space Debris and TOZ Artist Run Space in 2016-2017; Loading, MARS, OJ, Orta Format and Tasarım Bakkalı in 2017-2018. SAHA expanded the framework of the funding in 2018-2019 to support the initiatives across 5 different cities in the total amount of 100,000TL: AVTO, Hayy Açık Alan, Loading, NOKS, Performistanbul, sub and Torun. About the initiatives that will receive funding 2019-2020: A4 Open Art Space: Founded in Diyarbakır to support the creative potentials of young people, to create new opportunities for them, and to help them gain experience, a4 Open Art Space was founded, providing a multi-functional art space for alternative artistic works, encouraging interdisciplinary practices. A4 Open Art Space aims to increase their contact with research-driven artistic practices, to increase the visibility of Diyarbakır in the international context, and to realize guest artist residency programmes. A4 also provides space for seminars, conversations geared towards developing artistic practices and serves as an open studio space for local artists.
http://a4atolye.com AVTO: AVTO promotes experimental methods and scientific understanding within research and artistic practice. AVTO does not function as a traditional exhibition space and does not position itself beyond or between disciplines, instead asking questions, researching, and producing programming directed towards the creation of apt conditions for discovery. AVTO utilizes opposing views, unconventional methods, and critical perspectives.
http://www.avtoonline.org/#/ Eldem Art Space: Eldem Art Space is a non-profit art institution that started its activities in November 2018 with the goal of creating an environment for dialogue in Eskişehir. Since its inception, with the support of Eldem Culture, Arts and Education Foundation (EKSAV), 17 events have been organized, including group and solo exhibitions, artist talks, film screenings, workshops and pop-up projects.
https://eksav.org Karantina: Karantina was founded in January 2019 in Izmir by Dâhili Bellek (Gökçe Süvari, Özgül Kılınçarslan, Nursaç Sargon), 6x6x6 (Cenkhan Aksoy, Borga Kantürk, Ezgi Ceren Kayırıcı, Sarp Keskiner) and Kendine Ait Bir Oda (KABO) (Esra Okyay). These three initiatives have evolved into a collective space that hosts works of contemporary art, maps, networks, archives and documentation, and project partnerships. The space took its name from the name of the Mithatpaşa Neighborhood where it is located in, a neighborhood also known for its multicultural past, still present in the shared memory of the community. Adopting this name, Karantina [Quarantine] makes a reference to the memory of the city where they are located and is also a reference to the position of the artistic and creative production in society.
https://www.facebook.com/Mekankarantina Loading: Diyarbakır-based artists Cengiz Tekin, Erkan Özgen and Şener Özmen launched Loading in September 2017, taking the saying “It’s good to have a space…” as a departure point. Their founding goal was not to bring together the artists living and working in  Diyarbakır under one roof, but rather to resolve the issues they have been encountering in production and project-related issues, to archive the contemporary art practices from the first quarter of the 2000s, and to strengthen the international artistic awareness and interaction in Diyarbakır through various activities.
https://www.facebook.com/llloadinggg/ Performistanbul: International Performance Art Platform Performistanbul was founded in January 2016 by Simge Burhanoğlu to work with artists and institutions in the international arena to support creative work and to bring performance art to wider audiences. Performistanbul brings together performers under a single umbrella, bringing artists together with different projects, and enables them to produce site-specific performances. The platform includes 10 performance artists and international artists from over 20 cities working in Berlin, London, Italy and Iran.

Launched in Çanakkale in April 2017 and gaining function as a working, residency and exhibition space, sub is a repurposed cultural structure and space that aims to discover new channels in the circulation of art, working in collaboration with researchers, writers, photographers, artists, and curators who seek to directly interact with viewers. sub proposes a communication-driven structure that is available to make immediate contact, which is also transparent. The goal is to create an alternative and safe space where young people can be inspired and motivated to express the contemporary issues that surround them.
www.subsqu.ooo Orta Format:Orta Format is an e-magazine that focusing interviews, articles and projects about contemporary photography. It is independent. It's non-profit. It emerges as the product of a collective effort. The content of the Orta Format is shaped by the editors' research in the context of photography-art, on behalf of their own practices. The magazine is always open for research and participation. Unlike mainstream internet practices, it aims to be understandable in a simple interface. Orta Format is updated from time to time within the flow of the daily hassle.
