About The Association for Modern and Contemporary Art of the Arab world, Iran, and Turkey (AMCA)

Established in 2007, AMCA is a non-profit professional association dedicated to advancing the study of the history of the fine arts and visual culture of the Middle East. An affiliate organization of the Middle East Studies Association (MESA) and the College Art Association (CAA), AMCA aims to advance the study of this emerging field through the creation of a network of interested scholars and organizations. Since 2007 AMCA has sponsored panels at MESA and CAA and since 2010 AMCA has organized an annual international conference dedicated to the field. The previous two were held in Doha, Qatar and Beirut, Lebanon. The third annual AMCA conference is one of the first to have a substantial contribution from the field of art history in Turkey.
