Christine Macel (b. 1969, Paris) is a curator and art historian. After serving as Chief Curator at the Musée national d’art moderne – Centre Pompidou from 2000 to 2022, she was appointed Director of Museums at Les Arts Décoratifs in Paris in 2022. She curated the Belgian Pavilion at the 2007 Venice Biennale (Eric Duyckaerts) and the French Pavilion at the 2013 Venice Biennale (Anri Sala).

At Centre Pompidou, Macel has curated major group exhibitions including Danser sa vie (2011), Les Promesses du passé (2010), Airs de Paris (2007), and Dionysiac (2005), as well as solo exhibitions by artists such as Anri Sala, Gabriel Orozco, Philippe Parreno, Sophie Calle, Nan Goldin, and Raymond Hains. She also established Espace 315, dedicated to emerging international artists, and developed the Prospectif Cinéma programme, focusing on film production by young artists.

Macel has organized exhibitions at institutions including Museo Riso in Palermo, the Irish Museum of Modern Art in Dublin, Haus der Kunst in Munich, the Whitney Museum in New York, and Sharjah Art Foundation. She has contributed to publications such as Artforum, Flash Art, Art Press, and Parkett, and has written numerous books, essays, and catalogue texts, including Le Temps pris/Time Taken (2008), which explores contemporary art and the concept of time. From 1997 to 2002, she taught contemporary art at the École du Louvre in Paris.
