SAHA supports the 10th edition of the Çanakkale Biennial through new works by Fulya Çetin, Gökçe Kınay, Gözde Mimiko Türkkan, Merve Mepa, Serkan Aka, and Yasemin Özcan. Curated by Yasemin Ülgen, the biennial is on view between 10 October - 20 November 2026.

The 10th Çanakkale Biennial, entitled Medcezir (Ebb & Flow), explores the relationship between land and water, focusing on Çanakkale’s natural ecosystem and living cultural heritage. Examining these two fundamental elements through their multilayered connections to time, memory, and everyday life, the biennial investigates how human interactions with nature shape ways of making, learning, and living. By highlighting the movement and transformation of water alongside the accumulation and continuity embodied by land, it reveals the connections between natural processes and cultural memory.

Presented for the first time as part of the biennial, the “Special Focus: Ceramics” section brings Çanakkale’s rich ceramic heritage into dialogue with contemporary and experimental practices. Emerging from the interaction of earth, water, and fire, ceramics are explored not only as a traditional form of production but also as a living medium of expression and reflection that connects past and present, carrying knowledge and memory across generations.

About Çanakkale Biennial

Çanakkale Biennial Initiative (CABININ) is a Çanakkale-based non-profit initiative, founded by a group of collaborators from various fields and occupations. As a platform for producing artistic and cultural ideas and events, CABININ organizes and supports local as well as international events that would touch on socially responsible projects in particular, International Çanakkale Biennial. Hence, since the 1st Çanakkale Biennial (2008), all of the conceptual frameworks have been determined on the principle to oversee, examine and criticize the social problems relating to the country, region and the world through works of art.
