SAHA provided support for the participation of Prof. Dr. Pelin Tan, working in the fields of sociology and art history, as a guest speaker at the CIMAM 2021 Annual Conference.
The Conference was held on November 5-7, 2021 in Poland at Muzeum Sztuki and the NOMUS New Art Museum with the participation of 12 keynote speakers around the world under the title ‘‘UNDER PRESSURE. MUSEUMS IN TIMES OF XENOPHOBIA AND CLIMATE EMERGENCY’’. CİMAM 2021 Annual Conference focuses on how institutions, artists, and thinkers working together can provide practical laboratories concerning these emerging issues and offer methodological tools to combat discriminatory and nationalistic tendencies in an increasingly divisive and divided world.
Prof. Dr. Pelin Tan is a sociologist and art historian, currently the head of the Department of Cinema and Television at Batman University, Turkey. She was Associate Professor and Vice-Dean at the Architecture Faculty, Mardin Artuklu University, Mardin. In 2016, she was visiting Associate Professor at PolyU School of Design, Hong Kong. A member of the Artıkişler Collective and The Silent University, Tan is involved in artistic and architectural projects that focus on urban conflict, territorial politics, and conditions of labor.
CIMAM (International Committee for Museums and Collections of Modern Art, est.1962)is a largely volunteer-driven organization and relies heavily on the generous support of individuals and organizations.
