Sena Başöz

International Performance Art Festival and Commissioning Body | UK

SAHA provide support for Sena Başöz's project titled Slalom, which will take place at Block Universe, London’s leading international performance art festival and commissioning body.

Within the scope of the SAHA and Delfina Foundations’s cooperation with Block Universe, the artist's live performance held at WELLCOME COLLECTION on May 26 - 28, 2022, four times across three days.

In an environment where the artist almost "slaloms" towards an uncertain future threatened by the climate crisis, Başöz questions how reconsidering the past with the help of sound and movement can have a healing effect.

About Sena Başöz

Sena Başöz is an artist and filmmaker living and working in Istanbul. She received her BA in Economics from Boğaziçi University in 2002 and MFA from Bard College Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts in Film and Video in 2010.

Sena Başöz's works investigate healing after cases of trauma seeking ways of addressing and experimentally resolving traumatic events without evoking them directly. She focuses on broader definitions of "care" and the practices it entails. The organism’s ability to repair itself and re-balance in nature constitute the backbone of her artistic narrative.
