SAHA supports Cem Örgen’s new project at Les Urbaines Festival on 7-9 December 2024, co-directed by Yasemin İmre and Samuel Antoine. Reflecting on the ephemerality of experience, Cem Örgen’s project for Les Urbaines takes the form of sculptural objects and installations that ruminate on questions around preserving experience through memory, or by means of other extensions — or not. Örgen's work will be exhibited another week after the whirl-wind of the three days of the festival is passes.
Cem Örgen (b. 1996, Istanbul), disenchanted with the motivations of industrial design, his interest in material processes, functions and standards directed his practice towards more personal and situated movements rather than mass circulation. The artist examines the moral nausea caused by the speed of everyday stimuli, online and offline social interactions and desires. He values the search for shared and collective memory in hidden, rushed, and isolated settings, using installation, found objects, photography, sculpture, video and painting.
About Festival Les Urbaines
Les Urbaines festival, free for the public, is the space and moment for the expression of artists who experiment with, initiate, and subvert aesthetics in the fields of sound, visual and performing arts, as wel as everything in between and beyond. Through fifty propositions presented in various locations in Lausanne, Renens, and Chavannes, the festival is an invitation to the mutation of sensibilities and the dissent of subjectivities.
