Ten Years Of Solidarity: SAHA

Charity, sponsorship, collectorship… There is one more place somewhat close to and yet somewhat apart from these. A place where people, who have dreams about the country they live in, who are determined to work for this ideal, who are intent on leaving their own mark behind them by contributing to the age they live in and the art of that age, meet.

A place that supports the significant steps artists take in their careers, that walks with them towards their goal, that always offers a helping hand, but also very well knows which lines not to cross…

SAHA began its journey in 2011 with such a dream… It has created a unique model through experience, needs, replies received for questions, self-criticism and examination.

And after ten years, the story of SAHA has become a book named Ten Years of Solidarity.

Comprised of the testimonies of those who make SAHA what it is, the supported artists, founders, members and members of the international advisory board, the book revolves around concepts that are shaping the 21st century: sustainability, solidarity, equality, transparency…

The international collaborations SAHA has formed with the world’s leading art institutions; the journeys of supported artists spanning from leading international art organizations such as the Venice Biennale and Documenta, to art institutions such as Tate Modern and MoMA; the solidarity network it has formed with local biennials and art initiatives by focusing on the off-center and, alongside all of these, SAHA’s own projects like Studio, Art Writing, which are projections of the works aimed at supporting art writing, can all be found in the book.

Ten Years of Solidarity, is the story of replacing the question “Why does it not exist?” with “How can it happen?”… Or, in other words, the story of a journey taken for the sake of ‘a different world’.
