SAHA Studio Open Call

SAHA Studio welcomes applications for its June – December 2024 term

Designed by SAHA Association, SAHA Studio is a multifaceted research and production residency program for artists and curators of visual arts. In addition to a private studio space, stipend, and production budget, SAHA Studio offers curatorial feedback, production support, learning, and networking opportunities to its participants during the 6-month program.

Throughout the program, the artists cultivate their practice and expand their community further by working in proximity with fellow residents and curators invited from abroad to the SAHA Curatorial Program. They share their respective processes with the audience at mid-term gatherings, receiving feedback from visitors with the view of developing their respective works. The artists complete their program by exhibiting their new works at SAHA Studio Open organized at the end of each term, thus getting a chance to relay insights regarding their projects at events geared towards general public as well as art professionals and art institutions.

Mirroring the ethos of its restructuring at İMÇ in Unkapanı, the selection process of the SAHA Studio program adopts the open call modality for its 8th term between June-December 2024, aiming to reach a wider group of artists as per SAHA’s main mission to contribute to the contemporary art landscape across Türkiye. For the 8th term, the program alumni, namely Larissa Araz, Kerem Ozan Bayraktar, Ege Kanar, İz Öztat, Burcu Yağcıoğlu, Burak Delier and Gizem Karakaş are invited to the pre-jury process, after which a three-member selection committee including artist Taner Ceylan, independent curator Eda Berkmen, and SAHA Interim Director Serra Yentürk are to review all qualifying applications to create a shortlist and conduct interviews to select five artist for the term.

While there are no specific medium or age criteria for the artists invited from the field of visual arts, attention is paid to the potential of the artists to benefit from SAHA Studio facilities, the interaction they will create at SAHA Studio through their individual and mutual experiences, and to give opportunities to artists from outside Istanbul.

Opportunities provided by SAHA Studio:
- Own workspace at SAHA Studio’s shared setting
- Accommodation and transportation for participants invited from out-of-town
- Budget (up to 165.000 TRY) including honorarium and research, production, exhibition, and event expenses
- Basic equipment and crew assistance for production and installation
- Curatorial, editorial, professional, and legal counseling
- Participation in SAHA's programs
