SAHA Studio Open | Midterm Gathering

Update: In the light of upcoming harsh weather conditions, SAHA Studio Open event, originally planned to take place on Saturday, 12 March is now postponed to Saturday, 2 April, from 12 to 7 pm .

SAHA Studio, which continues its fourth term with the participation of Eser Epözdemir, Berat Işık, Ali Miharbi, İz Öztat, and TUNCA, opens its doors for visits on Saturday, 2 April from 12 to 7 pm.

SAHA Studio Open organized in the interim, is envisioned as a gathering that aims to engage in the dialogue the preliminary ideas, circumstances, and concepts that enkindle the artists’ ongoing projects, which will be presented through an exhibition and public programming in late May.

In that framework, the artists of the fourth term are sharing their evolving ideas and creations that are open to change: Eser Epözdemir walks the visitors through her new project that materializes with respect to certain keywords including city, history, and fluidity, which have been prevailing concepts in her recent research; Berat Işık presents two new works whereby he deconstructs his earlier videos in an attempt to “bend” them; TUNCA reveals the early stages of his series that allow a new reading of an ideological figure in the light of current political affairs. Ali Miharbi sets up a laboratory-like space with experimental mechanisms that turn into transmitters of the very data they collect from people and their surroundings, whereas İz Öztat invites the visitors to the primary construct of a variational space, where she pursues her collaboration with Zişan who appears to the artist as a historical figure, a ghost, and an alter ego since 2010.

We are looking forward to see you all at SAHA Studio Open to get together with the artists of the term, who were invited to the program by the selection committee, namely artist Gülsün Karamustafa, curator Özge Ersoy, and SAHA director and curator Çelenk Bafra, and to join the conversation on their practices!
