SAHA Studio opens its doors virtually

Launched by SAHA to support and enhance the interaction, production and professional development of emerging to mid-career artists and curators; SAHA Studio opens its doors virtually. Moderated by the director of SAHA, curator Çelenk Bafra, the five artists in residency at SAHA Studio since March will come together for an open studio presentation. At 3.30pm local time on Saturday 19 DecemberKerem Ozan BayraktarBorga KantürkGülşah MursaloğluMetehan Özcan, and Dilek Winchester will share their projects and works in progress, as well as their experience at SAHA Studio.

Please register here to receive the link and confirmation to attend the event. Simultaneous translation will be provided. Invited by the advisory/selection committee comprising Çelenk Bafra, Hera Büyüktaşçıyan, and Vasıf Kortun, to date SAHA Studio hosted nine artists from different cities of Turkey and two visiting researchers/curators from the UK and Mexico in its first year. The previous SAHA Studio Open was held in February 2020 with a group exhibition and public program. SAHA provides the invited artists with a studio and co-working space in Istanbul that they can use for minimum six months in addition to artist fee and production grant. The invited artists and curators benefit from an array of opportunities for exchange, including research trips, exhibition and studio visits, peer to peer dialogue and visits from leading art professionals. SAHA Studio’s second term ends following this online open studio and SAHA will greet the artists, writers, and curators that will partake in the SAHA Studio program as of 2021.

Following the online open studio on the 19th of December, the works are also on view at SAHA Studio by appointment (10 AM- 6 PM) between 21 and 25 December 2021.
