SAHA Studio resumes its programs at its new spaces in the Istanbul Manifacturers' Market (İMÇ), located in Unkapanı, Istanbul. Between November 2023 and June 2024, SAHA Studio hosts five visual artists from İstanbul, Mardin, and Rotterdam, namely Mehmet Ali Boran, İrem Günaydın, Gizem Karakaş, Merve Kılıçer and İrem Tok. The artists are invited by a selection committee that also acts as advisors throughout the program. In 2023-2024, Ali Kazma, Kevser Güler, and Çelenk Bafra deliberated and selected the artists from among the nominations of 8 independent art initiatives across Turkey as well as SAHA Studio alumni.
Since 2011, SAHA — Supporting Art from Turkey has supported projects of more than 600 artists, curators, writers, and art initiatives in 220 museums, biennials, and art institutions in 46 countries. Founded by SAHA in Beyoğlu, Istanbul, SAHA Studio has provided opportunities for research, production, feedback, collective learning, networking, and public programming for 39 artists and collectives for a period of 6 to 9 months since 2019. Encompassing the three different spaces of SAHA Studio wherein the program is restructured, İMÇ perpetuates its cultural significance as a building complex with its legacy of public artworks it commissioned since 1960s, and as one of the main sites of the 10th Istanbul Biennial in 2007, as well as various independent art initiatives and artist studios it continues to embrace.
