You are invited to the Mystical Conference at SAHA Studio!

SAHA Studio is hosting a talk focused on the limited-edition book Mistik Konferans (Mystic Conference), which Burak Delier developed as part of a continuation of his video narrative project during his residency at SAHA Studio 6th term, between March-October 2023. The talk will feature Delier and the book’s designer, Okay Karadayılar, moderated by Kültigin Kağan Akbulut. The event will take place on Saturday, November 16th, at 5pm at SAHA Studio.

“Mystical Conference: Narrative for a Probable Sound-Speech Work” is a fictional interview that traverses themes such as life, death, disaster, imposture, technology, memory and Turkey’s recent political and social history, which Burak Delier has addressed in his recent works and writings. This dialogue centers around his video-narrative piece YA UMUT EDECEKLER YA KORKACAKLAR #3 (They Will Either Hope or Fear #3), which he produced at SAHA Studio in 2023, focusing on an exhibition by a 'lost' group of artists. In this work, fiction is used as a primary method to access essential dimensions overlooked by dominant truth regimes, where the supposedly 'lost' artists camouflage their voices in various ways. In this strange aesthetic dimension, where the voices of famous figures from popular culture and sounds from a construction site intervene, the visual and the sonic merge on the same semi- transparent surface. The design of the book and the AI- generated visuals reflect concepts like the 'regime' or 'economy' of the dead, which are discussed in the dialogue. Supported by Borderless, each copy of the book has been uniquely crafted by designer Okay Karadayılar. The talk with Delier, moderated by Kültigin Kağan Akbulut, will take place on Saturday, November 16th, at 5:00 PM at SAHA Studio.
